Ron Regan, Investigative Reporter
Sep. 04, 2024 11:45 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
Ron Regan was known as an advocate for the vulnerable and a watchdog for holding the powerful accountable. He retired at the end of 2021 from his job as chief investigator for News5 Cleveland where he'd worked for more than 20 years.

Regan's award-winning investigations have freed a wrongfully convicted man from prison, changed state laws and put criminals behind bars.

"He is, not just in Cleveland, but across the country, known as one of the best investigative journalists in the business," said News 5 VP/General Manager Steve Weinstein at the time of his retirement. "It's impossible to quantify the number of laws and lives that he has changed."

In 2011, Regan received the George Foster Peabody Award for Excellence after uncovering the link between radiation exposure and cancer among veterans. His reporting has earned him many other awards, including over 20 regional Emmy Awards and Edward R. Murrow Regional Awards as well as being named “Best Investigator Reporter" by the Associated Press.

Regan started out as a newspaper reporter at the Charleston Daily Mail in West Virginia and cut his teeth with stops across the country before coming to Cleveland. One of the stories he covered was turned into HBO’s Emmy Winning movie detailing a suburban mom intent on hiring a hit man to murder her daughter’s cheerleading rival.

In Cleveland, his passion for storytelling dovetailed with his commitment to helping communities in need. In the “Drowning in Dysfunction” series, Regan chronicled problems with the Cleveland Water Department. This was just one of many stories he covered that greatly impacted the community.

Welcome, Ron!

Kandy Fatheree, Summit County Sheriff
Oct. 23, 2024 11:45 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
As your Sheriff, I am committed to enhancing public safety and exploring innovative strategies to improve the performance of the Sheriff’s Office.

In my role, I'm often faced with making difficult and long overdue reforms, but at the same time I can’t lose sight of the duties of the office. Every day is about finding that balance and making the best decision for our community.

Our efforts have garnered national recognition, and are even being adopted by other agencies. That is why I have been widely endorsed by leaders in both parties.

I believe that for law enforcement to thrive and effectively serve our community, it must continuously grow and adapt. That’s why I am seeking your support—to ensure that your Sheriff's Office continues to move forward.

Joint Breakfast Meeting with the Morning Club
Dec. 04, 2024 7:30 a.m. - 9:00 a.m.
Instead of our noon meeting at Lager & Vine, we have accepted an invitation to join the morning club on Wednesday, December 4. Here is the invitation we received from Kelly Brennan:

On December 4th at 7:30 a.m. the Rotary Club of Hudson will be hosting our annual Holiday Program performed by the Hudson High School Choir. I wanted to offer an open invitation to all the members, spouses, and friends of the Hudson Clocktower Rotary to join us and enjoy this most intimate, memorable, and magical holiday event.

This program is made possible through the leadership of Mr. Jacob Moore, Director of Choirs at HHS. The HHS Choirs repeatedly strive for excellence with choral repertoire that pushes the boundaries of what can be expected at the high school level.  Under his direction the Chamber Choir, the ensemble at HHS, has repeatedly earned Superior Ratings (I) at the District and State Levels.

The HHS Choirs have performed at various domestic and international venues such as Disney World, Nashville (TN), Norfolk (VA), St. John the Divine & St. Paul the Apostle in New York City, the Gothic Church at Kylemore Abbey, St. Mary's Church of Ireland, St. Multose Church of Kinsale, and St. Patrick's Cathedral in Dublin, Ireland.  Last years talented students have attached a link to last year’s performance held at the high school.

The program should last about 30-40 minutes, and we will then move the dining hall for a full course breakfast. Breakfast cost is $7/payable in advance or at the event.

The meeting will take place at Hudson Meadows Retirement Community, located at 1275 Barlow Road in Hudson.

As a result of joining the morning club for this event, we are cancelling our noon meeting that day at Lager and Vine.

We hope to see you at Hudson Meadows on Wednesday, December 4!

Britta Latz, CEO of MedWish Medworks
Feb. 05, 2025 11:45 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
Britta Latz is the CEO of MedWish Medworks, a Cleveland-based nonprofit organization. MedWish MedWorks’ mission is to advance health equity and environmental sustainability. We achieve this by providing essential care, redistributing surplus medical supplies, and connecting medically underserved communities with vital resources in Northeast Ohio and around the world.

We bridge the gap between the abundance of supplies in the U.S. healthcare system and the inadequate healthcare access experienced by millions of people around the globe and in Ohio. Further, we provide critical health services and social service navigation to people in our local communities free of charge with no qualifications for care. Our work and mission are unduplicated anywhere in our region and provide a cost-effective, environmentally friendly solution to medical scarcity and barriers to resource access.

MedWish International and Medworks recently merged in September 2024. Britta has been part of the MedWish staff for almost nine years prior to the merge, serving as Executive Director starting in November 2021 and transitioning to CEO of the combined organization this past fall.

Prior to becoming the Executive Director, Britta served as MedWish’s Director of Business Operations (2015-2018) and Associate Executive Director (2018-2021). While in these prior roles, Britta oversaw MedWish’s financials, human resources, gift recording and acknowledgements, international brigades program, grants program, managed the warehouse team and volunteer team, and was also part of strategic planning and major gift planning.

As the CEO, Britta oversees MedWish Medworks’ merger, strategic direction, and overall operations. In December 2022, Britta was awarded the 2022 Pillar Award for Community Service as ‘Nonprofit Executive Director of the Year’ from Smart Business.

Before joining the staff, Britta was a volunteer for MedWish, completing internships in 2009 and 2013. Britta has a Master’s degree from the University of Kentucky's Patterson School of Diplomacy and International Commerce, with a focus in international development.

While at the University of Kentucky she also completed a graduate certificate in global health. She also has a Bachelor’s degree in French and Religious Studies from the College of Wooster. While at Wooster she competed for the school’s soccer and lacrosse teams, captaining the lacrosse team in her senior year. Britta and her husband have two young children who keep her very active outside of work.
